(Strip Number 361, Original Publication Date, 30 December 1982)
Panel 1: As she sets the table for the New Years' Eve party that no one will actually remember let alone blame her for, Elly tells a visibly uncomfortable John that he doesn't have to do anything special.
Panel 2: All he needs to do is to take their coats, mix a few drinks and start some conversations. He starts to object by whining 'But Elly....'
Panel 3: His telling her that he doesn't know any conversations startles her.
Summary: Given that it's Lynn's social anxiety that's been assigned to John for the duration, what we're looking at is Rod trying to settle down a wallflower. Following this reversal of roles to its conclusion clearly means that what Lynn is really upset about is the idea that the neighbors thought that she was a lush.
