(Strip Number 6097, Original Publication Date, 26 December 1982)
Panel 1: We start things off with Elly looking at the Christmas tree and asking who ate all the candy canes off the lower branches.
Panel 2: We then see Farley sneaking away with a candy cane in his mouth.
Panel 3: The real strip begins with John telling everyone that yessir, the gifts are opened, they've had a great weekend and a fine meal; Elly chimes in by saying that she's exhausted.
Panel 4: John then sets up the conflict by telling Mike and Lizzie that it's bedtime.
Panel 5: Mike whines "Aw, Daddy....not yet."
Panel 6: John reminds Mike that he and Lizzie got up at six thirty and it's now past ten at night.
Panel 7: He then tells them that that's it; Christmas is over.
Panel 8: Mike's tentacle-fingered, splayed-out hand pleading that it just got here mildly confuses John.
Summary: I'm less confused by the sentiment than the need Lynn has to draw this gesture and to write a Lynnsight that I know will ruin this mildly pleasant slice-of-life, going-on-someone's-fridge strip.
