We begin the 'Mike boosts a scarf' Christmas arc by having him declare his intention to buy everyone he knows a gift this year...if he gets more than a buck eleven.
(Strip Number 347, Original Publication Date, 25 November 1982)
Panel 1: We find Mike and Lawrence walking down the street on a late November day bundled up in their winter gear; Mike declares that this year, he's going to get presents for everyone.
Panel 2: As Lawrence plays with a stick he picked up, Mike tells him that he's going to get presents for his mom, his dad, Lizzie and maybe even Lawrence himself.
Panel 3: Lawrence asks him if he really means that.
Panel 4: Mike says "Sure.....if I ever get more than a dollar and eleven cents."
Summary: This is a nice little slice of life strip about a little boy with big dreams who's bad with his money; too bad that it's not only the lead-in to one of the dumber arcs, it'll be ruined by a Lynnsight.
