(Strip Number 319, Original Publication Date, 13 October 1982)
Panel 1: Having failed to turn Farley into a guard dog, Mike goes back to basics by telling him to go fetch a stick he's holding.
Panel 2: Farley watches the stick Mike just threw as it flies through the air.
Panel 3: He then stands there with a mildly dozy look on his face as it lands with a thump.
Panel 4: As Farley looks at Mike with the blissed-out expression we associate with him, Mike tells Lawrence that Farley's getting there because he did see where it landed.
Summary: Since Mike is seven, he's sort of hazy on the fact that dogs have to be trained to fetch sticks in the first place; it also works better if the breed of dog has been bred to retrieve animals its owners have shot.
