In yet another installment of Lynn's showing us what happened when she was delivering Katie, Steve's hoversedan runs out of gas.

(Strip Number 4228, Original Publication Date, 22 September 1982)

Panel 1: As Steve, who's got a death grip on the wheel and a panicky glare in his eyes, tries to will himself into the hospital's parking lot, Annie tells him not to drive so fast because they've got plenty of time.

Panel 2: He then blurts out 'Okay, okay, already' before being told he's going too slowly.

Panel 3: He looks over at her, tells her to stop telling him what to do before pointing out that they're not going to slowly.

Panel 4: He then says that they're not going period because they're out of gas.

Summary: As Lynn said, this is what happened to her when Katie was being born so it's an odd reminder that Rod has the sort of endearing flaw of being mildly scatterbrained in stressful situations.
