In today's strip, Lawrence is Lynn's mouthpiece for her rant against her mother's need to see that she did well in school; since we don't know what she expected of her own children, we also don't know if we're supposed to cheer him on or call him a brat.

(Strip Number 314, Original Publication Date, 7 September 1982)

Panel 1: As they walk to the bus stop to get to class, Mike tells Lawrence that he gets bugged every night about homework.

Panel 2: You see, he's tired of his parents' incessant nagging about getting it done and doing it properly.

Panel 3: John tells him it's easy and Elly says it's fun.

Panel 4: Lawrence tells him that they say that because they don't have to do it any more.

Summary: He's right to do so; Elly actually seems to need to wall herself off from her family to do anything because she has ADHD and John is a stubborn idiot who regards new facts as a device of Satan so homework night at their houses back in the fifties must have been sheer hell for their parents.
