(Strip Number 6087, Original Publication Date, 5 September 1982)
Panel 1: We start things off with a look at the front hallway; a raincoat and red umbrella are hanging on a rack next to a pair of red boots.
Panel 2: We then see a smiling Lizzie poking her head out of the doorway as she looks at the boots.
Panel 3: The strip most of Coffee Talk sees starts with Mike hovering over Elly while she's still half-asleep and telling her that Lizzie just went outside; instead of the expected taking off like a shot, Elly puts her need to sleep too deep (zombie sleep) ahead of the safety of her child and grunts like a caveflapandhonk.
Panel 4: She responds to his telling her that Lizzie has her red umbrella with her by muttering frustratedly.
Panel 5: His telling her that she's wearing the red boots we saw earlier yields same response.
Panel 6: His telling her that that's all Lizzie is wearing yields the Bug-Eyed Glare of Existential Horror™.
Panel 7: We next see her running down the street in her housecoat and slippers trying to intercept Super Naked Lizzie.
Panel 8: Mike grins as he thought-bubbles about loving saving the best for last; given that he'll be screamed at for not looking after her so Elly can cosplay as a member of the Black Lantern Corps, his glee will be shortlived.
Summary: Now, I'd originally gotten pissed at Mike for being a knob but I was reminded that he acts like a shit most of the time because his parents don't do all that much parenting. As I type this revised summary, I don't know if I'm going to see a Lynnsight that asks us to congratulate Lynn on tormenting her mother or to condemn Aaron for not living her life for her. What I do know is that the first full week of September will be dedicated to getting us picky-faces to not make uncool critical noises about the negligence and stupidity we see on display here.
