In today's strip, John does something unfair when he tells Elly that he's as badly off as she is when it comes to sleeping arrangements.

Panel 1: We begin the week with Elly and John peeking their heads out of their roomettes; Elly answers John's asking how she's sleeping by complaining that Mike takes all the room.
Panel 2: She then complains that since he gets more space what with Lizzie being tinier and all, she's jealous of him.
Panel 3: He tells her not to be.
Panel 4: That's because Lizzie snores.
Summary: The problem with this is not that Elly would probably already know this or that Elly would whine about Lizzie snoring if they did gender segregate; the problem is that Elly is still jealous of him despite her being surprised that Lizzie snores. She can't admit that there are people as badly off or worse off than she is because that would mean she's not Queen Martyr McMartyrpants.
