Panel 1: As our story continues, we find Mike and Liz enjoying a pleasant summer day at a nearby lake; too bad that the fun they're having splashing each other will soon turn into a date with a tetanus shot for one of them.
Panel 2: That 'someone' is Lizzie who, having stepped on something she shouldn't have, says 'Uh....Ow, Michael."
Panel 3: Mike yells for Elly to come over quick because Lizzie's cut herself.
Panel 4: Elly surveys the damage, notices that the cut is pretty deep and says that she'll need to have a bandage put on.
Panel 5: Having fished the object she stepped on out of the water, Mike tells Elly that Lizzie is crying because she stepped on a broken bottle.
Panel 6: Elly tells him that loads of people treat the lakes like garbage dumps and just chuck junk like that in them.
Panel 7: Mike asks why this is; he then wonders if they think it vanishes on its own or that it won't hurt someone down the line or if, well, it's a really smart thing to do.
Panel 8: As Elly gets ready to take Lizzie to the outpatients, she tells Mike that they don't think at all.
Summary: Sure, the moralizing is heavy-handed and the dialogue is stilted but the logic is still sound; the Pattersons' fun day at the lake was cut short by someone else's thoughtlessness and, well, the K-words she'll get this week are reasonably well-earned.
