Given that Gordon has never spent a night outside the confines of his home and that Mike's last experience with the great outdoors involved being dragged to an abandoned cabin by his idiot parents, their mutual panic rings as true as their attempts to deny that they're frightened out of their minds.

(Strip Number 284, Original Publication Date, 15 July 1982)

Panel 1: It's late at night and the boys are in their sleeping bags on their first ever camp-out together. When Freaked-out Mike asks Terrified Gordo if he's asleep, Gordon answers in the negative and asks him the same.

Panel 2: Mike then asks Gordon if he's afraid; Gordon again says 'Nope' and again asks him if he's afraid.

Panel 3: If you imagine that Mike is speaking in panicked little bursts when he says "We're really out here. Outside. In the middle of the night. Alone.", you'd be spot on.

Panel 4: You'd also be right to assume that Gordon is about to make the same sort of shuddering sob that made Shaggy famous when he talks about how fun this is.

Summary: This fairly uncontroversial strip that has two children react exactly how they should given what we know of them will, of course, be subverted by Lynn's insistence on talking about herself in the notes.
