(Strip Number 276, Original Publication Date, 23 June 1982)
Panel 1: Today's strip finds Elly, Mike and Lizzie in the hoverwagon; Elly leans out the window and yells "Farley, (darned dog), FARLEY!!!"
Panel 2: Having gotten out of the car, she yells Farley's name again and snarls "That's fine! The dog's lost; that's just fine!!"
Panel 3: She looks over the side of the house and tells Mike that they've combed the neighboorhood and come up empty so Farley could have been stolen.
Panel 4: Mike's insistence that no one could have stolen Farley because he's HIS dog throws her for a loop.
Summary: This is because Mike's thought-processes are not her own either; since he's eight or so, his idea of how the world works is somewhat different in that he expects that everyone knows that Farley is his dog and must be left alone. Since we know that Phil has to go down to the dump to find the dog, Elly's inability to realize that a dog doesn't know to stay in the neighborhood so as to make it easier for her to find him makes a bad situation worse.
