Panel 1: As our story continues, we find John and Elly in bed; their sleep is rudely interrupted by sound effects that remind us that Lynn thinks very little of her brother's vocation. In response, John murmurs "Huh? Wha-whassat?" in an effort to find out what the unsound effects signify.
Panel 2: Elly tells him that it's Phil; it seems that he likes to practice his trumpet before going to sleep.
Panel 3: An outraged John looks at an alarm clock and half-way hollers "At three o'clock in the morning??"; this makes Elly's eyes bug out.
Summary: My eyes are bugging out as well; that's because you'd think that this is something she should have warned John about beforehand so that the three of them could sit down and work out an acceptable compromise. I also anticipate a passive-aggressive annotation that tells us that Lynn is convinced that Alan should have given up the trumpet and gotten a respectable job.
