In today's strip, Lynn "forgets" that the family is over the spring so she can have Elly remind Phil that he has to man up, get married, get a job he hates and endure sick offsprings so she doesn't have to feel guilty about playing her cards atrociously.

(Strip Number 4162, Original Publication Date, 26 April 1982)

Panel 1: We start things off with Phil, who's just arrived for his four-month stay at the Pattermanse, and Elly greeting one another; this is the happiest I've seen her in a while.

Panel 2: A smiling (and red-nosed) Lizzie, who's positioning herself to dock with Phil, greets him by coughing, sneezing, snivelling and saying "UNKA!!"

Panel 3: Since he's surrounded by sick people, Elly's cheerful greeting "Make yourself at home, Phil! What's ours is yours" leaves him mildly gobsmacked.

Summary: She meant well but, since she doesn't quite know what's really going on around her and can't seem to figure out what others are thinking, Elly has no idea that to Phil, she said "Behold your destiny!!" and cackled maniacally.

ETA: Here's another banner that tells us that Lynn is far more interested in candy than the confusing story she heard in church.
