I made a bit of a boo-boo by thinking that today's strip was the "chief grape" one; in actuality, we're contending with Elly's belief that, much as sexual harassment is an inevitability when women work in a predominantly male environment, siblings can only not fight like scorpions if there's something wrong.
(Strip Number 251, Original Punlication Date, 22 April 1982)
Panel 1: We begin things with Elly on the phone telling Annie that she wishes she could come over for coffee but the children are still sick.
Panel 2: She then says that they don't have fevers but she can tell something is wrong with them.
Panel 3: For one thing, they haven't fought all morning.
Summary: This is the real reason why we never see the kids get along; they have parents who think that sibling rivalry is an inevitability that has to be endured, not as a problem that has to be mitigated.
