Panel 1: At last, we catch up with Liz! And it appears that Viv has the same tea fixation Elly does.
Panel 2: Ooh, meeting the parents, eh? I assume, anyway. See, that would be an interesting sequence: Paul driving Liz to White River, but then balking when she assumes that he's going to introduce her to his parents, because he hasn't yet told them that he's involved with a Southerner, a white one no less. AIUI, that can be a sticking point with some Natives. But Lynn probably won't explore that angle, because it would present Natives as less than noble.
Panel 3: Well, in this case, the "quotes" might not be completely gratuitous. But see, if you only have the strips to go on, then you don't know what Viv is basing this on. And that is one big-ass table!
Panel 4: Oh, Liz. You can't go through your whole life trying to avoid complication! Now, granted, getting involved with a married man is a complication you don't need, but you seem to have a low threshold of "complication" in general.
Also, that "rrrrriiiiing" gives the impression that that's a *very* old phone, like the kind they had in the days of party lines.
Panel 5: Or, not. Looks like a cell phone. Still, doesn't Liz have a cell? But of course, Morsel contacts Liz in a way guaranteed to get maximum attention.
