(Strip Number 213, Original Publication Date, 11 January 1982)
Panel 1: We start things off with Elly retrieving a bikini from her suitcase; John turns into Captain Obvious by asking her if she did so.
Panel 2: His asking if HIS wife is actually going to wear a bikini outside gives me the creeps for some vague reason; it's not just that he's implying that she's too old to do so, there's something I can't quite put my finger on that irritates me.
Panel 3: Be that as it may, his real purpose is to set up the punchline by asking her what made her decide to join the other scantily-clad bodies down there.
Panel 4: Her declaring that a lot of them are worse bugs me just as much as what he said but for a different reason.
Summary: That reason is, of course, that she's got it in her head that she's oooooooooold, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat and uuuuuugly; this would be bad enough if she didn't have an asshole husband and spoiled brat son who make nasty comments about her appearance out of spite, malice and boredom.
