(Strip Number 6005, Original Publication Date, 2 January 1982)
Panel 1: As our story continues, we find ourselves in the front hallway; as she picks up her suitcase, Elly tells Carrie that it's good of both her and Will to take the kids. (I'd originally read this as her and Will taking BOTH KIDS because I had a flashback about Elly whining about having to watch THAT CHILD of Anthony's.)
Panel 2: In any event, Carrie tells her that it's a pleasure and a chance to have them all to themselves. We should also make note of the fact that Lizzie, who's wearing those damned overalls with the ugly ruffles, is docking with Gamma instead of Mommy. This becomes important next week when Lynn reminds us that she thinks that children only cry when they have an audience.
Panel 3: As Elly puts his jacket on so they can drive down to the airport, she tells Mike that she wants him and Lizzie to be the best they can be; Mike tells her not to worry.
Panel 4: He and Lizzie will take care of the grandparents.
Summary: As a normal seven-year-old being babysat, it's natural for Mike to get confused as to who actually takes care of whom; as someone who doesn't understand children in the least, it's also natural that Lynn is as baffled as Elly by his not knowing how the world works.
