Today's strip has Lawrence tell Mike to see the bright side of a break in the routine; what he doesn't know is that Mike is about to experience consistent discipline for the first time in his life.

(Strip Number 4115, Original Publication Date, 29 December 1981)

Panel 1: We start things off with Mike and Lawrence standing around as it snows; as he holds a branch that looks to be the perfect arm for a snowman, Mike says "My Grandma and Grandpa are staying 'cause Mom an'Dad are going on a holiday."

Panel 2: Since he's sort of bummed that he can't come and sort of resents the impression he gets that he and Lizzie are what they're taking a holiday from, he's not happy about how his parents are going to be gone for two whole weeks.

Panel 3: Lawrence tells him to look on the bright side of what looks like a two week long time-out; after all, his grandparents are going to be calling the shots. Mike, who's sort of not that bright, asks him what's good about that.

Panel 4: Lawrence tells him that change is good because he'll be able to get away with murder; this cheers Mike up.

Summary: Well, not so much really; what he'll get is to be raised by a parent who knows what she's doing and who wants to clean up the mess her idiot son and his insane wife made. There are any number of studies that show that children do a lot better and feel better about themselves when they're treated in a consistent manner; since Carrie actually IS loving, firm and fair, she'll be missed when she leaves for the farm.
