In today's strip, John is happy to see his father owing to the man's skills with a plunger.

Panel 1: As he, Carrie and Elly come in the house, Will says "Hello!! Anyone hooooome?"
Panel 2: An anxious-looking John says "Hi, Mom! Hi, Dad! Thank heavens you're here!!"
Panel 3: Will says that he's sort of touched by the terrific welcome. He won't be for long, though.
Panel 4: That's because John says that the biffs are clogged. This clearly means that Will has a date with a plunger.
Summary: Since we know that Lizzie flushed a bunch of stuff down the commode just to see if they'd go downahole, he's also got a date treating a two-year-old like a hardened criminal.
