December is here, and with it the winter weather! Merry Christmas, Merry Yule, Happy Chanukah, enjoy your Kwanzaa and have a great New Year!
Something Old, Something New is coming in January! Our first FBorFW treasury collection features storylines from the strip's first three cartoon collections: I've Got the One-More-Washload Blues..., Is This "One of Those Days," Daddy?, and It Must Be Nice to Be Little along with entirely new cartoons and full-color Sundays. We'll be offering them signed from Lynn's shop in the New Year!
2011 Wall Calendars are here! We managed to obtain a very limited number of calendars for 2011, so please order yours early to avoid being disappointed. You can get yours here.
There are some new features in our comic strip catalog (the part of our website where we've archived more than 11,000 FBorFW strips). We added a page of neat things and a page of errors and oddities in October. Last month we started working on collecting all the holiday strips together for Remembrance Day, and while we were at it we started pages for the changing seasons and winter holidays: take a look here. We'll be adding New Years strips soon!
Have you joined us on Facebook yet? We're trying to reach 4,000 fans by the end of the year. People who "like" our Facebook page get lots of chances to win signed books, and get first notice of new stuff on our site, including our weekly podcasts.
In October we added a brand new daily crossword puzzle to the site - with a new one being delivered every day. They're going over well - be sure to try them out if you haven't played yet.
We've been podcasting! Check out our brand new video podcast page for some short interviews with Lynn! We add a new one every Monday.
New egreets! We've added a pile of new egreets. You might have seen our new Thanksgiving greets; we also split our "seasonal" egreets page into Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter and added more greets to each page. It might be freezing here, but we know our Australian fans might be looking for some warm-weather greeting cards! We'll be adding more greets shortly.
FBorFW Satire Over the years, lots of cartoonists have taken clever jabs at FBorFW or given a tip of the hat to Lynn, and we've finally accumulated enough of these to make a collection of them. Hope you enjoy; some of them might not be appropriate for younger readers so please use your judgment if you're surfing with your kids. If you know of any other strips referencing FBorFW, we'd love to hear about it!
Our friends at the Farley Foundation are offering a line of Farley-themed holiday greeting cards and donation cards! Help out the Foundation by buying your greeting cards from them, or give a gift donation in someone else's name and the Foundation will send the recipient a Farley card in thanks.
Lynn's crew decided to have our holiday party earlier this year to coincide with the semi-annual feast held by North Bay's Chicago Cafe, owned by Lynn's friend Helen Eng. We enjoyed a terrific meal, and this month's newsletter photo (further down) is a shot of all of us at dinner - click the photo to visit our site and see a larger version. Left to right, we're Katie, Kevin, Steph, Lynn, Liuba and Janet (Beth Cruikshank is absent, due to the fact that she lives in Manitoba!) and we wish you all the best in 2011.
We've just gotten our hands on electronic copies of the animated FBorFW TV show that used to run on the Teletoon network here in Canada. We'll be uploading these to our website a couple at a time over the coming weeks - keep your eyes peeled for further news about these!
2011 Wall Calendars are now available.
