(Strip Number 4086, Original Publication Date, 28 October 1981)
Panel 1: We start things off with Elly putting the finishing touches on Lizzie's Halloween costume; as she ties the sash to the Little Bo Peep dress Lizzie's wearing, she asks John what he thinks.
Panel 2: He says that must have taken her hours to sew that costume.
Panel 3: As Lizzie tries to remove the bonnet, Elly tells him that in fact, it took her three days.
Panel 4: Since he notices that Lizzie is trying to take the thing off, he hopes it'll last three houses.
Summary: We have ourselves a poser here; how will Lynn twist the very natural need two year olds have to not wear unfamiliar clothing, in fact their shrinking from the novel, into a conscious attempt to be mean to poor, put-upon Elly? Also, how did I miss the trope about how children aren't meant to find Halloween enjoyable?
