(Strip Number 4063, Original Publication Date, 9 September 1981)
Panel 1: As Connie dries a wineglass, Elly reminds her that she had a long list of things she wanted in a man.
Panel 2: It thus amazes her that she and Ted hit it off so well; what should really amaze her is that Connie's fingers are twelve inches long and getting longer.
Panel 3: Since it doesn't, she simply asks if Ted really matches up to Connie's requirements.
Panel 4: Connie's response, which baffles Elly, is to say that she changed the list.
Summary: It really shouldn't throw Elly that Connie does this. She became a red-headed homebody to keep Patriarchy Peter, a groupie to attract beatnik Phil and a judgmental disciplinarian for feckless dullard Greg so reinventing herself as a mother surrogate for Ted's sake isn't going to be much of a stretch. Let's not forget that Liz ends up being similarly malleable.
