A back to school sale serves as a reminder that while Elly loves her children in theory, she can't stand the sight of them most of the time.
(Strip Number 4050, Original Publication Date, 19 August 1981)
Panel 1: We find ourselves at what I guess is Philpott's; as Elly picks out shirts for Mike to try on, he notices the "Back to school special" banner in the background.
Panel 2: Since he's an average little boy who thinks school is a means adults have devised of keeping children from having fun, he asks her what's so special about back to school.
Panel 3: He stands there asking "Mom? MOM?" because Elly, who's having a very quiet storegasm because she just realized that for a few hours each day, the awful little boy who hatefully demands her time will be someone else's problem, is not responding.
Summary: I've said it before and I'll say it again; Elly simply should never have had children. She doesn't much like their company and she never seems to be able to relate to them so she should have never bothered proving how inept she is.
