In today's fun-filled strip, Elly's need to tell tales out of school collides with the need a bored, restive seven-year old has to call attention to himself in a household where such a thing is treated as a crime against nature.

(Strip Number 4046, Original Publication Date, 14 August 1981)

Panel 1: We start off with Elly on the phone with Annie talking about Connie; as she tries telling her that it seemed that she came over to borrow the lawn mower, it was love at first sight, she's interrupted by a loud BURP!!!

Panel 2: As she tells Annie to hold on a second, Gorey-Eyed Elly has to endure the cosmic horror of belching and giggling on the extension.

Panel 3: Her next move is to bellow "MICHAEL!! HANG UP THE EXTENSION PHONE OR ELSE!!!!" so loudly, she'll probably have big fun cursing him out for having shat his pants.

Panel 4: Since she's a woman who should never have reproduced because she simply doesn't have what it takes to cope with children, she storms back to the kitchen fuming "Never have kids."

Summary: What really bothers me is that Elly does everything in her power to make her environment child-hostile only to turn around and piss and moan about how she simply cannot understand why they act up. Perhaps now that Guisewite has finally made a decision that she should have fifteen to twenty years ago and retired for good, she can prevail upon Lynn to do likewise and spare us the eventual return of the Settlepocalypse.
