(Strip Number 4039, Original Publication Date, 25 July 1981)
Panel 1: We find the Pattersons in their probably-vermin-infested bed after a hard day of needless privation; Elly tells John that it's raining.
Panel 2: John gets all wistful as he reminds us that he loves the sound of rain on an old cabin roof.
Panel 3: Elly, having gotten out of bed, pushes him to other side and says "Great!...
Panel 4: "...The leak is on my side." Suddenly, John isn't as happy now.
Summary: This, sadly, is the extent of Elly's rebellion against living in the dreadful rathole she and John think to be Ted's place. A sterner soul who wasn't in love with martyrdom would have gotten out of there by now.
