Panel 1: We start off with Elly brushing Lizzie's hair while talking on the phone; she tells Annie that she doesn't have to worry about the plants because Ted's going to housesit while they're away.
Panel 2: She tells Annie that yes, he's the one with the cabin and yes, he still lives with his mother.
Panel 3: She responds to Annie's wondering why by saying that it's because he hasn't found the right girl yet.
Panel 4: As she finally notices that Lizzie is trying to swallow the brush, Elly (who went to Uni to troll for a husband instead of getting a degree like one of those crazy suffragettes) tells Annie "To begin with, I think he's looking in the wrong century."
Summary: Oh, that is rich coming from a woman who would end up arranging Liz's marriage to the blandest, whiniest, most eunuchy male imaginable so that she could feel better about her own lifetime of failure and self-loathing. What makes it more ridiculous is that she doesn't know Ted at all; the man I see is a poor slob desperate to freeze time in place so he doesn't lose any more loved ones. I've always suspected that he dumped his girlfriends when they started agreeing with his mother about how happy she'd be at a retirement home.
