In today's strip, Jean asks how secure her job is when John asks her opinion of his ugly-ass checked pants.

(Strip Number 4011, Original Publication Date, 21 May 1981)

Panel 1: We pick things up at John's dental clinic; as Jean picks an ampoule of something from a tray, John points to his fugly trousers and says "I want the truth, Jean; what do you think of these pants?"

Panel 2: As she stands there reeling from the shock of seeing clothing that ugly and mixing something in a mortar and pestle, John says "Well?"

Panel 3: She looks down at the offending garment and asks how secure her job is.

Summary: I'd like to see the look on Elly's face when John says that since Jean dissed them, he was forced to throw them out. Watching her head explode because John values his hygeinist's opinion more would be almost as much fun as reading the letters that would have condemned him. Good thing we have something even better because we spend Victoria Day weekend reminding ourselves that Lizzie's birthday equals "Poor Put-Upon Elly".
