We end the week with one of the rare-dialogue free weekly strips. Suffice to say we have Poor Put-upon Elly™ having to contend with a broken object and children trying to deflect blame.

(Strip Number 3995, Original Publication Date, 25 April 1981)

Panel 1: In today's one-panel, dialogue-free piece of filler material, we see Bug-Eyed Elly holding a broken table lamp; she's not only bug-eyed because it's broken, she also has to look at Lizzie point at Michael as if he's to blame while Michael does so to Farley.

Summary: This, of course, is "meant" to be an example of how nasty, destructive, deceitful children try to weasel out of being punished for something they did; the problem, of course, is that it is entirely possible that Elly herself broke the lamp. It's also possible, though Elly would deny this with every fiber of her being, that who ever did so did so by accident. Not that that would MATTER, of course; if anything, honest mistakes only seem to make John and Elly angrier than deliberate mischief.
