Panel 1: We start off with Elly in a defensive, angry posture; she's got her arms crossed against her chest and she's totally rocking the Squished-Up Face of Martyred Rage™. John reacts to this and his realization that he misspoke seconds ago by getting all penitent and saying "I said 'my money', didn't I? I said the wrong thing."
Panel 2: He goes on to say "I should have said "our money"...I should have asked you if I should have bought the stereo, shouldn't I?"
Panel 3: Her reaction is to GROWL!!!!! inarticulately to express her rage.
Panel 4: As she storms off looking for something to hate, John (whose eyeglasses are askew) tells no one in particular that it's good that he and Elly can still communicate.
Summary: So much for all that smoke they were blowing last month about how readily they share their feelings, eh? Also so much for domestic tranquility until he figures out that, despite what she's about to say about the need to be frugal, what's really pissing her off is that he didn't get her shiny trash she doesn't need either.
