Well, this strip might be the last new-ruin so we can expect some sort of coda; what I expect to see is Mike get punished because he, having his mouth full of food, says the word "Elizabeth" but is punished for calling her "Lizardbreath."

I'm close; Elly is martyred because Mike is calling her on her bullshit.

Panel 1: We start with Dainty Doll-boy Michael asking Elly, who's carrying her basket of laundry, what's for supper; she says that she doesn't know.

Panel 2: As she puts the clothes away, she tells him that she's been too busy to think about supper; Mike says that he's hungry now.

Panel 3: She then says "Okay, okay, I'll make supper in a while."

Panel 4: He asks "Can't it be in a few minutes? A while takes too long."

Summary: This is why Steve Nichols is a better parent than she and Annie are; he remembers that children aren't made to go without food for hours on end and will give his kids a cookie or other snack when they need one. As Seinfeld says, don't worry if giving a kid a candy bar will ruin his appetite; there'll always be another one.
