Let's see what John's reaction to Mike's inability to control the hose is. A sane, decent person would show some sort of concern for his kid's well-being. John will probably angrily state that Mike should have listened to him.

It seems that instead of consoling Mike, John is being given further reasons to be angry with him.

Panel 1: We start off with an establishing shot of the Grinning Eldritch Abomination Carwash; as John tries to back into another car, a dialog bubble floating overhead says "Don't back up too fast, Dad; there's a car in the way.

Panel 2: As John is about to put his money into the slot for the vacuum, Mike yells "Lemme put the money in the vacuum machine! Let me! I wanna!!"

Panel 3: His next attempt to prove himself to his oaf of a father has Mike grab at the hose John is holding and plead "I wanna try the vacuum!! Please? PLEASE?"

Panel 4: We hear a KLINK-KLINK-KLUNK!! noise as Mike tells us that this thing sucks stuff like crazy.

Panel 5: We follow that by John patting himself down and asking himself "Stange...where did I put my car keys?"

Summary: We can safely expect John to yell at Mike for that tomorrow, can't we? It won't occur to the stupid son-of-a-bitch that the kid made an honest mistake because, well, he doesn't believe in them.
