It's a second-hand, second-rate distillation of all the strips that decry the vulgarization of the media by the unsubtle means of having Elly watch a sitcom we might as well call The Anvilicious Cursing Show.
Panel 1: We start out with Elly in the living room reading the TV listings.
Panel 2: As she sits down to watch her show, she turns on the TV with the remote.
Panel 3: She stands there with a blank half-smile as the actors swear non-stop.
Panel 4: There's more cursing.....
Panel 5: ....more foul language.....
Panel 6: ....and more profanity.
Panel 7: When Mike shows up and says "Mom?", she gets gobsmacked and switches it off.
Panel 8: Mike asks her what she was watching.
Panel 9: She tells him 'a comedy.'
Summary: I wouldn't mind Lynn decrying foul language were it not for the fact that I'd rather watch a sitcom where people curse than I would Elly swat Mike aside like a fly because he dared interrupt her on the phone or scream at him because his need for affection gets in the way of useless busywork.
