Crap; that's exactly what we're in for.
Panel 1: As Elly pours Farley his Puppy Lunch, Michael, who's still wearing his winter jacket and hat, bursts in and yells "Mom! Mom! Come quick! Lawrence just had an accident!!"
Panel 2: As she dresses Lizzie, Michael tells her that Lawrence was ridin' down a hill an' he skidded on some ice an' he smashed into a tree.
Panel 3: As she rushes to the scene, she says "Oh, no! I hope it isn't serious!" It should be noted that Barnacle Lizzie is in her standard docked configuration.
Panel 4: Mike says "Of course it's serious! It was MY bike!!" (Nice kid, eh?)
Summary: It seems to me that if Lynn were going to expand the arc, she should have shown us why Lawrence was doing something this stupid. We should also have seen why it was that Connie really stayed in Montreal chasing a jazz-playing unicorn instead of being 'there' for Lawrence. It also seems that they should have nipped this lack of empathy for people and concern with material objects in the bud; that way, he wouldn't have rushed into a fire to save a machine when it made more sense to be with his wife and child.
