I wish; we have to look at Mike being a greedy nitwit.
Panel 1: Michael and Lawrence are outside making snowballs. Mike says that he did some stuff for John and made five dbucks to spend on Christmas ehich causes Lawrence to explain that he'd earned three.
Panel 2: As they build the base of a snowman, Mike asks Lawrence how many presents he has to buy; Lawrence says that he just has to buy for his mom and asks Mike the same question.
Panel 3: As they put the midsection up, Mike says that he has to buy for everybody so he bought a box of chocolates. Lawrence says "Cool!!"
Panel 4: After Mike explains that he's already eaten his share, Lawrence is gobsmacked. This is because he can see something that Mike cannot: a pointless screaming match three weeks from now as Mike tries to defend himself from angry parents who don't feel like understanding his point of view.
Summary: Lynn's attempt to rip off Hank Ketcham's Dennis the Menace falls flat because we know that John and Elly are no Henry and Alice Mitchell; their superior American counterparts actually love Dennis and want what's best for him. You'll never see those two wanting to own his horses.
