That's for tomorrow, I guess; right now, we have to be reminded that Elly hates being a mother and that the Pattersons have a dog named Farley.
Panel 1: We start off with Michael getting ready for school as Elly says "Michael? Are you ready for school, honey? I'm helping your daddy at the clinic today and he's waiting for me!" off-camera.
Panel 2: As she dresses Lizzie, Elly tells Mike that Annie will be sitting for Lizzie. Instead of remembering that Lizzie was already at Annie's yesterday, Mike asks where Farley's going to be sent.
Panel 3: Elly says that Annie is right next door and will look in on him. This is the reason this strip exists; after all, it originally appeared before the Pattersons had a dog to worry about.
Panel 4: As she leaves her son's silhouette behind, Elly thought-bubbles "WHEW!! Getting the kids ready was quite a scramble --- but it's for a good cause...."
Panel 5: Her smile widens as she thought-bubbles, "FREEDOM!!"
Summary: This is pretty much the same odd sentiment that greeted us when Deanna ran from the horror of interacting with Meredith and Robin towards the liberty of long, dull hours at an unfeminine job with no support from her idiot husband.
