ETA: Man, am I off base today; that's because Elly finally admits that she prefers wallowing in martyrdom to actually trying to make things better.
Panel 1: We start off with Mike noticing that someone has rang the doorbell.
Panel 2: His response is to yell that there's someone at the door. I could get off on a rant about how it's not appropriate to have a five year old play doorman but I won't.
Panel 3: That's because I'm too busy being annoyed that Elly greets Annie with a warning that the house is a mess.
Panel 4: She, you see, has been busy-busy-busy and has had little time to clean up.
Panel 5: The idea that she's descended from the heavens to criticize Elly's housekeeping so offends Annie that not only does she say she just came by for a coffee, her eyes are bugged out like a crazy woman's.
Panel 6: She asks why it is that as soon as company comes in, the Typical Housewife's response is to apologize for her failures as a woman.
Panel 7: Why do the Ellys of the world put themselves down like that?
Panel 8: Elly says that doing so is a lot easier that cleaning.
Summary: Like I said, Elly would rather be a martyr than fix things; today, she admits it.
