Since Lynn ran the obligatory knee-Rod-in-the-groin strip early because of the Victoria Day long weekend, it might be that we'll be treated to a pet strip. It also might be that we could see Elly display an oh-so-rare glimmer of self-awareness.

And I'm wrong: it's a single panel strip that reminds us that children are an unbearable burden everyone has to endure.

Panel 1: We're in the Pattermanse's bathroom; the tub has overflowed because Mike simply cannot turn taps with wet hands no matter how much Elly shrieks, pouts and moanswants to make his poor mother's life miserable. Realizing that she never believes him when he says this so he might as well lie anywayIn an effort to try to trick Elly like the little creep he is, he points at his rubber duck and tells her "He did it."

Summary: In and of itself, this is a slice of boring life; as part of a pattern, though, it's far less benign. It's just another entry in the long list of things that Mike did to be unfair to Elly. The nerve of him, telling her that crazy story about not being able to turn things when his hands are wet; if she believed him, she'd have to watch over him in the tub instead of going off somewhere to sigh and gripe like she wants to.
