Oh, dear. She's making a fool out of Elly today.
Panel 1: We start off with Elly telling John, who's reading the paper, that Lizzie said her name just now; she said the word 'Elizabeth'.
Panel 2: She sets her on the armrest of John's chair and tells Lizzie "Say it for Daddy, sweetheart! Say your name! Who did we see in the mirror?"
Panel 3: As she plops her in John's lap, she says "Say 'Elizabeth for Daddy; let him hear how smart you are! Come on, say 'Elizabeth'."
Panel 4: Instead of saying "Nizibeff" or the like, she blows a raspberry.
Panel 5: John hands her back and says "Close enough." This seems dismissive but it really isn't; John knows that Lizzie isn't a trained seal and reacts accordingly. Too bad for him that Elly thinks that he's called her an idiot but that can't be helped.
Summary: In the real world, we'd have to chalk this one up to Lizzie reacting to John the way she's seen Mommie do; since she wants to be like Elly, she shows John the same general lack of respect. Lynn, on the other hand, would have us believe that Lizzie is deliberately trying to make Elly look foolish as part of her diabolical (and existing-only-in-Elly's-diseased-mind) plan to jam it to her poor, long-suffering, delusional, self-absorbed emo Mom.
