Arf! It’s April. Well, you know my parents went to Mexico – without me as usual.
Dad said they had to get out of the house until it was repaired and "de-cleaned." That sounds strange, but it’s true. This is kind of related to our dog, Eddy, so it fits with the pets’ letter. Dad was at the office for his one day a week he goes to work. He got a call at work from our neighbour that Eddy disrupted her kid’s birthday party. Then he got a call from a construction site, where some truck driver said Eddy was running around the heavy machinery. Dad decided to pick up a pizza and then drive around the neighbourhood to see if Eddy would follow him home from the pizza smell. I know this sounds kind of stoopid, but it is how my dad thinks sometimes.
Somehow that worked. When Dad got home with Eddy and what was left of the pizza, he discovered why Eddy had been running around loose. Dad found Mom with some cleaner called Whiffex 3 she had poured all over their house, and she was scrubbing the floor and sniffing it over and over again, and saying, “I can still smell it!!” Whiffex 3 is the stuff that is advertised during that soap opera mom likes to watch all the time these days. Dad said the carpet was torn up all over the house and the house reeked of Whiffex 3. Mom had kicked Eddy out of the house because she blamed him for the smell. As usual, mom said it was “Farley”’s fault. When Dad asked her why Eddy / Farley smelled, she said it was because “Farley found all the Easter eggs.” I don’t know what that means either.
Dad told Mom she could have just washed the dog and not the house. So that’s what mom did. Eddy was not happy. He is over at our house, while Mom and Dad are in Mexico. He is very clean.
About the other furrball in my life! Buttsy seems happy - she gets a lot of attention. Mike lets her sit on his lap while he works on his school work, and it's Meredith's job to feed her. When I go to university, it’s going to be hard to leave her with them at our old house. Meredith has gotten really good at feeding Buttsy, and she puts her food where Robin can’t play with it. Or eat it. Or put it down his pants and run around saying, "Poo poo".
I am thinking about going back to Winnipeg one last time this summer before I start at Guelph in the fall. I didn’t get to go last year because I had a wedding to put together. Auntie Bev said it was OK, if Mom and Dad agreed. I told her the story about Mom and Eddy and the Whiffex 3 and she thought it was so funny. She said she would like to turn that story into a children’s book, but she might have to leave out the part with the Whiffex 3 to avoid lawsuits. She has two friends, Chrissie Boehm, and Patty Weise, who are good illustrators and have done children’s books before. Auntie Bev said she would even give mom a credit on the cover of the book, even though she really wouldn’t do anything. I think it’s a good idea. It would be nice for something good to come out of mom being so crazy. It’s been since September and I don’t think Mom has done one good thing that whole time. Auntie Bev says she’s thinking about calling the book, “Eddy Emulates his Ear" and she is going to have him listen to things all over the neighbourhood.
I talked to my cousin Laura about coming over this summer. She told me that my old horse Tawny is just as feisty as ever. She's going to be "my" horse to ride again this summer, if I get to go. I'm looking forward to it. I looooove riding. I really missed it last year. I hope Tawny remembers me and isn’t mad I didn’t ride her last summer.
Anyway, thazzit for this month!
