Not that we'll find out what happened until later. Right now, Lynn's gotta make stupid jokes about tax time and how it makes John into a psychotic brute.
Panel 1: We start off with a bleary-eyed John looking over some of his his receipts for the last year. Elly asks him what all those papers are.
Panel 2: He gives her a half-answer by angrily complaining that it never fails; every year, as soon as you send off your taxes....
Panel 3: ...and it's too late to do anything about it....
Panel 4: ....you find a drawer full of exceptions you can't claim. It should be noted that his response to this trivial reverse is to work himself into such a blind rage Elly fears for her safety.
Summary: Not only is this joke older than TV, it's inaccurate. All Jon needs to do is march on down to the taxman with the forms he's probably about to tear up in a rage after his return comes in and have it adjusted. Granted, it'll take a while but he'll eventually get his satisfaction. Sadly, Lynn knows as much about this sort of thing as Elly does (that is to say sweet dick all) so John is screwed. Not that I care; anyone who'd get that angry over this trivial snafu deserves to pay more taxes than he's supposed to.
