Hmmmm...... It's a new-run that has RevElly make bad wordplay about shoving two incompatible people together.
Panel 1: That's because RevElly is still talking to AnneAchronism. Super Mom is holding on to the Tintin/Henry look-alike she calls a child as she asks if RevElly has introduced RePhil to RetConnie yet. Flapandhonk says that she's been over for coffee but there's no real connection yet.
Panel 2: AnneAchronism asks the question "She's dying to talk with him one-on-one, isn't she?" as a declarative statement. RevElly, who somwhow found the time to put her hair up in a ponytail, confirms that by saying that she needs to find an excuse to get the two of them together. This means that the strip I described will appear Monday.
Panel 3: AnneAchronism asks RevElly "Isn't directing a vulnerable woman at a man who's totally wrong for her because he doesn't want kids fun?" REvElly says that it could get her into trouble.
Panel 4: She then makes a bad pun about playing with matches.
Summary: This totally subverts the meaning of the original. In the real past, Elly didn't really want Connie to get her hopes up; now, she wants to make an honest (that is to say "man with a nine-to-five job he hates and children he wants little to do with") man out of RePhil and thinks that RetConnie is the perfect tool for the job. Either way, she's a creep.
