It seems to me that we'd probably get a reprint today so Lynn can keep her promise of a balance between old and new material. As megan_koumori said, she's almost started to figure out how to do this new-run thing so it will probably no longer inspire any feeling stronger than ennui. That being said, time for another exaggerated portrayal of the hassles of everyday life in the 'burbs.

It's another harmless slice of life strip.

Panel 1: That's because we got Elly gushing about Liz's first steps on the phone to Marian. This is reassuringly normal behavior because everyone does it.

Panel 2: Everyone also tells their mother that a gift (in this case, rain boots for Lizzie) will be put to good use.

Panel 3: It would seem that they were part of a matched set because Elly says that Lizzie will also be able to wear the hat and coat.

Panel 4: Everyone also knows that, even though it's a little outsized now, Lizzie will grow into and out of her little ensemble in no time.

Summary: Nothing much to snark here; just Lynn having a camera in people's houses.
