So far this week, we've seen two more examples of Young Elly being thrown for a loop because she couldn't foresee something predictable. I wonder if this will be the strip that shows her totally wiped out because she gave Lizzie a cookie and she got crumbs everywhere.

Well, cookies are involved, anyway.

Panel 1: We see Mike ask Elly for a cookie. She agrees.

Panel 2: He then asks if his friends can have cookies. Not anticipating that "friend" might mean any child within the range of his voice, she agrees to that too.

Panel 3: He then yells "COOKIES, GUYS!!" at the top of his lungs.

Panel 4: We see her smiling ruefully as a group of kids eat the cookies. I'd be happier that she didn't freak out if she didn't compare them to vermin.

Summary: It's all their fault she's always one step behind. It has nothing to do with her being an idiot.
