I actually love this strip. The real punchline is, all along, I was thinking the patient was hideously ugly--and it turned out to be Elly! Panels 5 and 9 are especially flattering. Gotta also love the anti-marriage message in the last panel. It keeps with the recent theme: men hate marriage and don't much care about their wives. Gosh, Lynn and Rod must be so happy!

I don't know anything about dentistry, but is it really a dentist's responsibility to fix X-ray equipment (or call the repair man)? Does a dentist really have to order permanent crowns one at a time, as they're needed? Both things seem odd and inefficient to me. I'm curious if anyone out there knows how realistic this is.
