The one where Liz doesn't get that Elly is a fussy irritant because she wants people to think well of her.
Panel 1: We find ourselves in a school parking lot watching Elly have a slow meltdown as Liz gets ready to head up to Ottawa. For some reason, yesterday's suitcase is today's backpack and also for some reason, Liz is holding a set of loose sheets of paper. As meaningless silhouettes hover in the background, Elly wants Liz to make sure that she does her hair up with the red ribbon and to have her collar pressed. Liz tries to explain that the bus is leaving but Elly will not be denied.
Panel 2: After all, if Liz is going on national television, she should look her best. As Elly fusses with Liz's hair, Liz yells MOM!!! because chaos and mother hatred.
Panel 3: Liz sets up a weak joke by trying to remind Elly that she's going to a face in the crowd...a tiny little speck, if you will. Elly knows this.
Panel 4: As the bus leaves, Elly gloomily thought-bubbles that Liz is HER tiny little speck despite having not contributed in any way to the lead-up to this.
Summary: Most people assume that Elly is proud of her child. Most people don't understand that if Liz looks bad on camera, Elly thinks that someone will shoot her right in the face for raising her daughter wrong.
