Snarky Candiru2

Thursday, 10 September 2020

The one where we're supposed to find Liz and Dawn to be ridiculous idiots because they act like pretty much every sixth grader ever used to back when they had junior highs.

(Original Publication Date, 5 September 1991)

Panel 1: As she chews the evil gum of rebelling against parents, Dawn turns into the narrator and reminds Liz that since they're in what Canadians call "Grade Six" and what you call 'sixth grade', this will be their last year at this school. As she does so, Liz sticks her tongue out at someone who offended her by saying this one isn't going to age well.

Panel 2: We continue to be hammered over the head with the idea that Liz and her friends are little kids when Liz tosses wadded up paper at Dawn as she talks about how it's great to be one of the 'big kids' for a change because the first graders look so....young. Insert comment about how Lynn has a damned hard time understanding how kids see the world here.

Panel 3: Chris makes a rude noise with his armpits and Dawn blows a bubble LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN!!! when Liz says that it's too bad that they have to share their playground with the small fry. After all, they are the seniors.

Panel 4: As she continues to chew gum LIKE A NAUGHTY LITTLE CHILD!!!, Dawn says that it's a good thing that the juniors have mature kids like them to look up to.

Summary: Tomorrow, we get a different take on children trying to be older than they are when something else that frightens Lynn appears. That horrid thing is 'girls starting to prefer boys to toys.'
