The one where Farley is deemed to be insecure because Elly is too stupid to look down and notice that he's underfoot.

(Original Publication Date, 15 September 1991)

Panel 1: We find ourselves in the kitchen watching Elly peel potatoes for supper that evening as Farley sleeps soundly by her ankles. Given that Elly has distinct trouble keeping track of where people and pets are, we can pretty much predict what will happen when she tries to put them on the stove.

Panel 2: Our suspicions are confirmed when her blanking out on his presence (and having a fog bank in the house in the original version) make her yelp in horror as she trips over him.

Panel 3: The strip proper begins with Farley once again trying to find a quiet place to sleep only to have Elly yell in horror because she's carrying a laundry basket in such a manner as to obscure her forward vision which results in her tripping over him....AGAIN!!!

Panel 4: As she burps April, she finds Farley staring at him. A normal person would assume that he's hungry, simply wants attention or wants to go walkies. Elly isn't normal so stares at him with the look of utter befuddlement Liz usually has.

Panel 5: As she walks April in circles to get her sleepy, her inability to focus on more than one thing blinds her to the fact that Farley has joined her.

Panel 6: This causes her to yell in baffled horror as yet again, he 'comes out of nowhere' to bump into her.

Panel 7: When she goes to type up another book report, she can't see that Farley is in front of the chair and trips over him.

Panel 8: Rather than speculate as to whether she needs corrective lenses, she starts to lecture Farley about what's wrong with him because he's always under foot.

Panel 9: We get an awkward pause as she says "I see" in response to an expression she's misreading.

Panel 10: She then thought-bubbles that she guesses that we all have our insecure days.

Summary: What we're actually having is a "Why do they let this nitwit have a dog?" day as well as a "Hey, Elly!! Get your eyes tested!!" day. If she can't see something as big as Farley in front of a chair, she makes Mr Magoo look like he's got Superman's super eyesight.
