The one Liz angers Elly by not knowing what a double chin actually is.

(Original Publication Date, 29 August 1991)

Panel 1: As Elly looks in the mirror trying to make the fat, old and ugly lady no one can or should love go away, Liz asks her what she's doing. Elly says that she's looking at her face from a different angle.

Panel 2: Since Elly never understands that Liz is naive to an extreme, she makes the mistake of asking her if she thinks that she has a double chin. Liz says that it doesn't look double to her. This is probably because howtheduck is right to assume that Liz thinks that Elly is asking if she has the same cleft chin Jim does.

Panel 3: Elly should be asking herself "Does my ten year old child know what I mean by the phrase I'm using?" instead of asking Liz if she's sure she doesn't have one. Liz says that yes, she is sure.

Panel 4: She angers Elly by saying that she just has a little bag under it. Elly's scowl is probably inspired less by the fact that Liz has no idea what she was asking and more by the fact that she does have a double chin.

Summary: Elly is about to spend her week wailing that when she looks in the mirror, she sees her mother. Since Elly has always that her mother was too old to live or understand love, this presents a problem.
