Snarky Candiru2

The one where Mike shows us why Martha never wrote back: he doesn't share feelings all that readily.

(Original Publication Date, 13 August 1991)

Panel 1: We see Mike on the porch writing a letter in Lynn's handwriting: "Dear Martha. By the time you get this, I will be home. Maybe you're wondering why I haven't called."

Panel 2: "I worked hard on the farm but the hardest part of living away was missing you."

Panel 3: He has a wistful expression as he writes "Maybe you didn't have time, or maybe you didn't know what to say but not getting a letter or even a call from you really hurt."

Panel 4: He then crumples up the letter and thought-bubbles "I can say it but I can't send it."

Summary: We get to see why Saturday when the deluded jerk thinks that she'll laugh at him for feeling like this. Simply put, his refusal to trust anyone because of a stupid, self-serving reason is the other thing that blinds him to who Martha actually is.
