The one with ritual Farley abuse, John and a hot cup of coffee.

(Original Publication Date, 16 June 1991)

Panel 1: We find John in his easy chair holding the remote in his right hand and a coffee cup in the left one. This becomes important.

Panel 2: The reason why it becomes important is that Farley peeks around the corner as he drinks his coffee.

Panel 3: Farley nudges John's right arm because he's learned that it gets a desirable result.

Panel 4: Said result is getting scratched behind the ears and patted on the head.

Panel 5: Farley nudges John's upper arm.

Panel 6: We get more of the warm and fuzzy stuff.

Panel 7: John isn't paying attention to something important: Farley is moving towards the arm holding the coffee cup in it. Since Farley is a real dog today, he isn't going to understand or anticipate the consequences of that action.

Panel 8: Since he doesn't know any better, Farley makes the good-faith goof-up of nudging John's left forearm and spilling hot-ass coffee in his lap.

Panel 9: Farley is confused and frightened when John yells at him because he has no idea what he did wrong.

Panel 10: We find him in the other room trying to understand the situation and failing.

Summary: We transition messily from "Why do these stupid people have pets?" to "Why does Elly assume that April knows when to wake up and start crying to make her life harder?" tomorrow.
